Desmond Wells celebrated his 12th year as a singer and songwriter in the Afrikaans music industry. He gave up his career as a policeman in the SAPS in December 2005 to sing full-time.
His debut album “Heeltyd Speeltyd” was nominated in 2006 for a SAMA award for the best Afrikaans dance album of the year. Desmond’s album “Desiré” was nominated for a Huisgenoot Tempo Award for Best Afrikaans Album of the Year and also crowned that same year as the most popular male singer at the annual Bok Radio awards at Grand West Arena.
His album “Dans my verlief” was released by Select Music in 2013, which also featured major hits like the title track “Dans my verlief” and songs like “Bloubergstrand & Savannah’s Smile”.
His music has currently sold on over 700 000 compilation CDs over the last 12 years.
Desmond’s newest album “Staan vir altyd by my” was released in June 2017 and songs on “Dansvloer Liefde & Die woorde in my” were already big hits on radio stations and music lovers across the country. The album was also named last year as the most popular Afrikaans album of 2017 at the annual Bok radio awards.
